The manager sent this message to their workers at a golf course restaurant, blaming the workers for the establishment's decline in business and need to reduce hours of operation, claiming that workers seeking to continue recieving hours must "earn" them.

4:12 Boss Hello All, 8 People > Text Message Today 8:28 AM If you have noticed a difference in your schedule lately it is due to the number of request off, excessive call ins, and poor customer experiences, which has now affected the golf business. I have 37

decided to remove most of the bev cart shifts during the week because of this. Soon the pubs operational hours will be reduced, mostly because we can't rely on employees to show up to work. F&B has more request off than any department in the entire company. Another fact : in 3 months (September-Nov) there were 17 call outs company wide. Of the 17 call outs 15 were made by F&B staff.

rely on shifts we have a business to run and need to rely on employees to show up and be consistent. My suggestion at this point is to start looking for another job if you need money, or if you still want to be apart of the team than become consistent, just as you were when you started.

The original poster of this thread, a worker at the restaurant, responded, knocking over the first domino that led to a chain reaction.

Hey y'all! Don't go on vacation, you don't deserve it, you won't have hours when your back to work. REAL LIFE problems happening at home, need to call out because a pipe exploded in your house? Don't worry they will remember and take your hours away. The point of your existence is solely going to be for minimum wage in this company.

The lack of reality in your message is almost saddening. If people call out of work in a timely manner, as we're told, we're still punished. Lots of competition for minimum wage and disrespect. If someone wants the 10-2 shift, it's up! I'd rather go somewhere where my bills are paid and people are friendly. Boss This is my point. Good luck. Please

This is my point. Good luck. Please don't respond again. Claudia I appreciate the opportunity in working here and have enjoyed the people I have worked with, unfortunately I can no longer continue with a job that regardless of how well I'm doing I'm always afraid of being in trouble for something. I have tried to talk about how everyone needs to pull

Therefore there is nothing more I can do at this job where I don't feel appreciated regardless of how hard I try. Thanks again and I will miss everybody I got to know at this job.

the staff. You said we could talk in person about it and then you ignore and avoid me when I try to schedule it. For minimum wage and a company that makes me feel like I'm always in trouble and being heavily scrutinized, accused of stealing, and bashed behind my back, it's not worth it. last Friday and you were saying all those bad things about me, people heard and relayed the message. We're not given the resources to even do our job right and when we practically beg for them, we're ignored, nothing improves, and then WE get in trouble for not doing our job. I wish everyone the best and I wish I could stay

cyberentomology What has "affected the golf business" is a systemic and generational decline in overall demand, which doesn't work well for an industry built out to support Boomers that loved golf. That, and it's december. Unless you're someplace warm and tropical, nobody wants to golf in December. Sounds like a manager who doesn't understand the business and its cycles. Reply Share 22 ...

ArtTheClown I quit my job a little over a year ago at a medium sized company and 28 people left with me. On the last day my boss said "you can't leave, you need this job". I didn't even reply, I sent out a mass email with screenshots of his messages to everyone along with my resignation, which received 28 nearly identical replies. He lost 45% of his staff in one day because he thought we wouldn't 2.0k Reply Share
